How to make the most of your Parisian experience Part 1
Walk, walk, walk!
The best way to explore Paris is to walk everywhere! Not convinced about walking? Try a taxi and you’ll be stuck in traffic for a longer time than it would have taken you to walk to your destination; try the metro and you’ll have great views of…. the underground ! Beside being the most efficient way to see the city, walking has extra perks such as allowing you to indulge over a charcuterie plate paired with a glass of Gaillac without thinking of it; or stumbling over a creative designer store that nobody knows about yet!
Stay in the heart of the city.
Because you want to walk everywhere, the best place to stay is in the heart of the city. Paris’s twenty arrondissements (districts) being dispatch from center to periphery, the lower the number of the arrondissement, the more centered it is. Any arrondissement from 1st to 6th is good, with my preference being for the 5th (Latin Quarter) and 6th (St Germain des Prés – Odéon – Luxembourg) because they are both close to everything and are very lively with restaurants and music. The 4th arrondissement (Le Marais) is a very good option too.
Decide which is best suited for you: an apartment over a hotel.
Staying at a hotel will get you the services associated with it: check-in / check-out any time, fresh towels every day, room service. Staying in an apartment may be better suited for you if you want to feel like a local, go grocery shopping and cook at home and / or if you are travelling with children and need a larger space for your family.
